Woollen Paper
Cotton and wool based cover material suitable for medium speed and medium line pressure supercalendering.
Typical Uses
- Coated paper
- LWC paper
Key Features
- Suitable for medium speed and medium line load supercalendering conditions
- Resistance to marking due to improved resilience
- Good gloss development due to internal heat generation
Woollen Paper is essentially a Blue Denim cotton based roll filling material blended with wool fibres. The wool fibres give the material greater resilience. Woollen Paper is available with from 10% to 45% wool fibre content. Higher wool contents give greater resilience and therefore better marking resistance. Woollen Paper is suitable for medium speed and medium line load supercalendering conditions. The material generates more internal heat than Blue Denim due to deformation at the nip and therefore produces optimum gloss results. Because of the heat generation, care must be taken to select the optimum wool content for a given set of supercalendering conditions. Too high a wool content may result in burning of the material.
