HHD (Hough High Density)

Hough High Density is a linen and cotton based cover material designed for higher temperature supercalendering applications.

Typical Uses

  • High temperature supercalendering
  • Label release paper
  • Glassine

Key Features

  • Withstands higher temperature/pressure supercalendering conditions
  • Replacement for traditional asbestos and composite rolls

Hough High Density is a special roll cover material based on a 50% linen / 50% blue denim fibre formulation. The material was designed to replace traditional asbestos fibre based cover materials and other composite type cover materials, which are either no longer available or technically inadequate.

HHD rolls are constructed using a special production method, resulting in optimised roll density. Also the linen fibres used have a naturally higher resistance to temperature than cotton and therefore boost the temperature resistance of the roll cover.

The special fibre formulation and the optimised density give HHD rolls their excellent performance in high temperature applications. HHD rolls have proved highly successful in high temperature calendering over many years.
